Tari Trosclair
Founder & Director | Tari's School of Dance
With more than 45 years of experience in dance education, Tari Trosclair has dedicated her career to teaching, choreography, and developing young dancers. She began teaching at just 16 years old, when she was selected to instruct high school dance teams nationwide for a Los Angeles-based company.
Tari went on to study dance at Louisiana State University, where she was a member of the LSU Golden Girls for five years, serving as captain and choreographer for four. After earning her degree in education, she taught dance at St. Amant High School, Episcopal High School, and St. Aloysius before becoming a jazz dance instructor in LSU's Theatre Department.
In 1984, Tari founded Tari's School of Dance in Baton Rouge with just 50 students. Drawing on her teaching experience and graduate business studies at LSU, she expanded the school to more than 500 students and a faculty of 22 instructors. Over the years, her choreography and students have earned numerous regional and national awards at competitions and conventions, including Tremaine, West Coast Dance Explosion, New York City Dance Alliance, NUVO, RADIX, and Hollywood Vibe.
Beyond the studio, Tari has served as a choreographer, instructor, and adjudicator for numerous dance organizations, including the LSU Golden Girls, LSU Tiger Girls, New Orleans Saintsations, and collegiate dance teams. She has also taught at the Louisiana Dance Festival and participated in the More Than Just Great Dancing podcast during its 2024–2025 season.
Under her direction, Tari's students have gone on to professional dance careers in New York and Los Angeles, with alumni performing as New York City Rockettes, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, New Orleans Saintsations, New Orleans Pelicans Dancers, and members of LSU's Golden Girls and Tiger Girls. Her commitment remains the same as when she opened the school: providing young dancers in Louisiana with exceptional training and opportunities to pursue their potential.
